Putin’s two hour and five minute address was very rich in ideas and my overview of yesterday was incomplete. In what follows below, I propose to direct attention to several further elements of the speech that merit discussion. It bears mention that during the speech Vladimir Putin explained more than once that many of the new initiatives he was promoting for implementation in his next term in office should he be elected came from his meetings these past several months with ordinary citizens, with businessmen and with civic groups as he traveled across country. The shift from neo-Liberal concepts of economic management that were so dominant before the Kremlin put the economy on a war footing to a more dirigiste approach focused on raising the quality of life for the vast majority of the population today reflects this ‘ear to the ground’ approach.
Nothing but common sense. Sounds more like what our founders had in mind for us. Our country is where we are because those intellectuals with letters behind their names run it. They think so much of themselves and look down on people without their "knowledge" that they no longer listen to the people who pay their salaries and who elected them. When you are elected to go to DC you become United States representatives and senators from certain states. You are supposed to represent ALL of the people of OUR country not a select few. Our founders NEVER wanted this to become a career. It was for limited service and limited times in DC. It was for common people to be DIRECTLY involved in running the government. Most government operations were to be left to the states. NEVER did they think congress would abdicate their responsibility and assign running of the government to bureaucratic agencies. They were elected as trustee's of our rights. As any trustee who fails and steals from the trust, they should be immediately FIRED, CHARGED and PUT IN PRISON. When they commit treason in office such as the current president, they should be executed after conviction. Sorry if this offends but it is factual truth.
