In this brief chat, I raise the issue of the duality in US policy towards the Russia-Ukraine war, as President Trump pulls in one direction trying to broker a peace now for the benefit of Republican electoral prospects in November, while the CIA pulls in the other direction, to continue the war, to hold onto their large presence in Kiev and to weaken, possibly defeat Russia as drone strikes rise in frequency and potency.
I also look at the Russian side, where President Putin shows no sign of willingness to do what has to be done to end the war quickly – namely a decapitation strike on Kiev. He cannot even bring himself to cut the rail lines that carry the diplomatic tourists from Europe, and now also from the USA (Witkoff and Kushner) to their meetings in Kiev with Zelensky.
It is patently clear that there is no chance for resolution of the conflict so long as Zelensky remains in office and continues to receive heavy backing from the EU/NATO. Meanwhile, Putin is saying that he does not want to touch the powers that be in Kiev because there will then be no one to negotiate with. That argument is not convincing in any manner. If the Russians kill the Zelensky circle and there is no one to negotiate with on the next day, then a UN peace keeping force or a specially constituted insternational force drawn from countries standing outside the conflict, could be brought in to oversee elections in a couple of months, so that the Ukrainian people have the opportunity to choose new leaders to negotiate a peace on their behalf on realistic, not delusional terms handed to Zelensky by Merz, Macron and Burnham. This will not be perfect. Given the chaos in Ukraine, given the open question about giving the vote to those who have fled – both to Europe and to Russia – no vote will satisfy all sides for fairness. But the war must be stopped – NOW, and it is hard to see any alternative to physical removal of the Zelensky gang to do this.

Perhaps the politician Papa Bear is waiting until after the Russian elections before he mobilizes 300,000 Russian soldiers to finish the job.
The main problem is Putin ,he does not have the will to fight ,the whole of Ukraine needs to be
under control of Russia and become part of Russia.
Hopefully on Sept 20 2026 in the Duma election Putin's United Party , will lose , if that occurs,
if the Duma can put in a law ,a no confidence of the Presidency , to remove Putin , Russia can
not wait till 2030 for the President election.
