Interview on WION television (India) regarding the peace talks on Ukraine being held in Saudi Arabia
It was my pleasure yesterday to discuss with WION television the dynamics of the peace conference that Saudi Arabia has convened this weekend in which 30 members of the Global South or more are taking part, but to which Russia, pointedly, was not invited.
I use this opportunity to point out that WION has a global journalistic presence. In that regard, note that the hostess of yesterday’s program was conducting the interview from their Johannesburg offices. Of course, their home audience would have been most interested in the participation of India’s national security director in the Saudi talks, followed by the participation of his Chinese counterpart, as we see from the questions she posed.
There seemed at times to be a restrained smile on your face during the interview commentary you provided, but you did well not to let it out when you made two points: per the Zelenskyy peace plan, “absurd”. And the likelihood of the global south fulfilling Sullivan’s dreams of recondite acceptance of the Russian condemnation, “delusional”. Such a matter of fact explication of realty ought to happen more regularly, but on American news programs.
